Abstract
A case of the isolated pulmonary insufficiency was throughly investigated for its diagnostic assessment by using invasive and non-invasive Echo-Doppler methods.
The case was a 21 year old Korean Women with moderate degree of intermittent exertjonal dyspnoea. The physical finding showed the grade II-III early decrescend diastolic and grade IV ejection systolic murmur at pulmonic area. The author et al predicted the presence at the isolated pulmonary insufficiency by performing routine right ventriculography.
By this procedure, the presence of all other cardiac adnormalities such as valvular disease, congenital heart disease, septal abnormality or right ventricular abnormality were easily excluded out.
The catheterization results were compatible with the diagnostic prediction as there was no pressure gradient at all across the valve.
Again for the final conclusive diagnostic assessment, the case was intensively observed by Echo-Doppler non-invasive technique. By using this technique, the author et al made a succession to detect the diastolic regurgitant jet stream just below the pulmonary valve area.
Pulsed Doppler was used to show the positive diastolic sample volume (Velocity) which was more than 150cm/sec.
